The Irony Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon opens with wonderfully fresh aromas of blackberry jam, plum and red licorice followed by delicate rose petal notes. This full-bodied wine, with firm tannins and acidity, delivers blackberry and ripe plum flavors coupled with hints of dried sage and sweet vanilla. | Short ribs with mashed potatoes, bison burger (or classic hamburger), lamb moussaka. | What occasion doesnt benefit from a bit of Irony?Irony wines overcome a seemingly insurmountable quandary. How to craft wines that capture all the rich flavors of Californias preeminent viticulture regions while remaining balanced and approachable enough for any occasion. The answer lies in a rather incongruous approach to grape growing, sourcing and winemaking. Drawing on three generations of family winemaking and long-established grower relationships, Irony crafts wines that exemplify each region, not at its most extreme, but at its most honest and expressive. And therein lays the ultimate contradiction that wines so consistently true to their prestigious roots could also be so wonderfully approachable. Why the name Irony? We really have two stories for the name “Irony.”The first story points back to the founding family more specifically the third generation of Indelicato at the helm of the company. Jay and Chris Indelicato, two brothers, worked in the winery and in the vineyards since they were kids. They worked all sorts of jobs, from cleaning tanks to packing cases and from pruning grapevines to driving forklifts. Both were determined to have their own careers and life and not with the family business. Jay and Chris both established their own careers, Jay with IBM and Chris in Accounting. After some years of being away from the family business, Chris and Jay decided, independent of each other, to return to the family biz; theyre now known affectionately as the G3 alongside their cousins Marie, Cheryl, Mike and Frank the third generation of Indelicatos. The second story is all about the wine. Well, its really all about our value proposition as a brand.Take everything you know about how great wine is supposed to be made and pour it out. The lavish estates. The exalted vineyards. And the often exorbitant cost of those things. Then sit down and enjoy a glass of Irony. We believe youll discover a wine that embodies the best of what Californias most celebrated appellations are supposed to taste like. Honest. Expressive. Real. Irony wines proudly define the very essence of their exclusive origins. And yet, ironically enough, they retain an approachability and sense of value that makes them welcome in any setting. Come to think of it, what occasion doesnt benefit from a bit of Iron
